Study trips and visits to historical areas are essential for the student’s growth, especially for architecture students. They provide an opportunity to learn and observe the spaces by experiencing them physically. In order to achieve these objectives, our architecture students embarked on an educational study tour to Bhong Masjid (Rahim Yar Khan) and Sacho Satram Das (SSD) Temple (Raharki, Ghotki) on 9th November 2024. Guided by our dedicated faculty, students had the chance to explore and study the intricate details, religious and cultural significance, and technical aspects of these architectural masterpieces. The trip included the mentioned site visits along with a refreshment break.

๐Ÿ”น Bhong Masjid:

Bhong Masjid depicts a variety of handcrafted ornamentation and the use of vast materials, including stone, marble, and mirror work, to enlighten the students’ knowledge. The site was guided by the masjidโ€™s caretaker who explained the history of the founder of Masjid โ€œRais Ghaziโ€. He further highlighted the Islamic Architectural elements and geometric patterns on Masjid inspired by Mughal and Ottoman Architecture. Students were highly fascinated by the hard work, and craftsmanship demonstrated through the calligraphy and vegetal motifs in each part of the structure.

๐Ÿ”น SSD Temple:

SSD Temple was indeed a new, knowledgeable experience for students. It exposed them to design perspectives according to the needs of the Hindu Community. The temple guide, Mr. Viki Kumar, welcomed and accompanied them on the visit with hospitality. He showed that the temple is built on an enclosed 100-acre land comprising private entrance roadways, large-scale monuments, a Temple, a Cafeteria, and Guest Houses. Through this visit, the students analysed providing a secure environment and the planning techniques for designing large-span areas.
