Sukkur, February 02, 2026: Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design & Heritage, Sukkur successfully hosted Day 01 of the 2nd International Conference on โ€œBridging Sindhโ€™s Heritage & Sustainability in Global Perspective,โ€ bringing together renowned national and international scholars, academic leaders, and cultural experts to deliberate on the intersection of heritage, sustainability, and global development.

The conference commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand, Vice Chancellor, Aror University Sukkur and Patron-in-Chief of the conference. In his address, he emphasized the historical significance of Aror, and underscored the importance of organizing such an international conference to promote Sindhโ€™s rich cultural heritage through scholarly dialogue.

The academic proceedings began with Keynote Address I by Dr. Steven C. Bonta, who delivered an insightful talk on โ€œHarappan Building Technology and Architecture and Their Modern Influences,โ€ shedding light on ancient architectural wisdom and its relevance to contemporary design practices.

Keynote Address II was delivered by Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Former Vice Chancellor of LUMS, on the topic โ€œFrom Heritage to Hiring: Relearning How Universities Prepare Graduates for Work.โ€ His address emphasized aligning higher education with evolving workforce demands while drawing lessons from historical knowledge systems.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I. & T.I.), Vice Chancellor, Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Karachi. In her address, she appreciated and congratulated the leadership of Aror University Sukkur for organizing such a historic and intellectually enriching conference, recognizing its valuable contribution to academia and cultural preservation.

Further enriching the proceedings, Keynote Address III was delivered by Dr. Antonio Daood on โ€œOrganizations as Catalysts: Bridging Cultural Heritage & Sustainable Futures,โ€ highlighting the role of institutions in preserving cultural heritage while advancing sustainable development.

Keynote Address V was presented by Prof. Dr. Guoxiang Yuan, who spoke on โ€œHistorical Dynamics of Socio-Cultural Diversity of Sindh,โ€ offering a global perspective on Sindhโ€™s pluralistic heritage.

Day 01 also featured two engaging panel discussions.

Panel Discussion I was moderated by Ms. Zabad Anwar, with distinguished panelists Yousuf Bashir Qureshi and Ms. Noorjehan Bilgrami, focusing on cultural identity and artistic heritage.

Panel Discussion II was moderated by Dr. Rashid Ali, with panelists Dr. Ifqut Shaheen, Dr. Tasleem Alan Abro, Dr. Rafique Wasan, and Ms. Zahida Quadri, who discussed themes related to sustainability, education, and heritage integration.

In addition, research papers were presented by conference participants, further enriching the academic discourse.
