Sukkur, May 29, 2025 โ Aror University Sukkur organized a significant visit to the Banana Fiber Plant at Saleh Pat, bringing together delegates from Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK; National Textile University, Faisalabad; and University of Kamalia. The initiative marks a collaborative effort focused on sustainable environmental practices through the innovative use of banana waste for fiber production.
The visit aimed to assess the potential for large-scale production of banana fiberโa biodegradable and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic fibersโwhile exploring avenues for academic and industrial collaboration in sustainable materials.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in a productive meeting with Syed Inayat Hussain Shah, the landowner and key supporter of the project. Discussions centered on the technical and commercial execution of banana fiber production from agricultural waste, highlighting the project’s potential to contribute positively to both the local economy and global environmental goals.
This joint initiative exemplifies the commitment of all four partner institutions to promoting sustainable development through research, innovation, and community engagement. The visit also served to strengthen international academic ties and lay the groundwork for future collaborative research and technology transfer in the field of sustainable textiles.
