Textile Designer  |  Design Educator  |  Fashion & Textile Researcher: "Samina Junejo is a design educator and researcher currently serving as Assistant Professor of Fashion Design at Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design & Heritage, Sukkur, where she also serves as Summer Semester Coordinator and the Industries & Liaison focal person for the Faculty of Design. She previously served as Warden of the Girls Hostel at the university, reflecting her broader engagement in student life beyond the classroom. She also holds a concurrent appointment as adjunct faculty at Shaheed Allah Bux Soomro University of Art, Design, Culture & Heritage, Jamshoro, where she teaches textile design and supervises final-year thesis work. With over twelve years of combined experience across industry and academia, Samina Junejo began her career as a textile designer in Pakistan's fashion and textile sector, working with leading names including Gul Ahmed, Bonanza, Orient Textile Mills, Salitex, and Shariq Textiles. In these roles, she developed expertise in CAD-based print design, embroidery development, colour forecasting, and production coordination, working closely with manufacturers and vendors across the country's textile supply chain. This industry foundation continues to inform her teaching, which draws on practical craft knowledge in draping, pattern making, garment construction, hand embroidery, and fashion illustration, alongside trend forecasting and sustainable manufacturing practices. Samina Junejo holds a bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from Shaheed Allah Bux Soomro University and a master’s degree in Design, Marketing and Merchandising from AIFD–Iqra University. Her research sits at the intersection of sustainable fashion design and cultural heritage preservation. Her current manuscript, “Weaving Continuity,” examines the translation of traditional Sindhi textile crafts — Ajrak and Rilli — onto sustainable banana-fibre fabric for contemporary apparel design. Her broader research portfolio, currently in preparation for academic submission, extends to digital fashion and virtual design, the cultural impact of Western fashion on traditional dress, and consumer behaviour in digital fashion branding. In 2025, Samina Junejo was selected to represent Aror University at an international summer camp hosted by Dalian Polytechnic University in China, contributing to the university's growing international academic exchange. She is also currently collaborating on the Indigo Project alongside a postdoctoral researcher from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. Samina Junejo has served as an external jury member at Jinnah University for Women, Karachi. She has completed professional development training in higher-education assessment design, SAP/ERP systems, STEAM education, and student engagement pedagogy - reflecting her ongoing commitment to strengthening both her research practice and her teaching craft.
