Mission Statement of the Program

Our mission is to inspire and educate a new generation of ceramic designers, fostering creativity, innovation, and technical excellence. We aim to cultivate a supportive and collaborative environment that nurtures artistic expression, promotes sustainable practices, and prepares students for successful careers in the field of ceramic design.

Introduction

The BS Ceramic program offered by the Faculty of Design at Aror University of Art, Architecture, and Design & Heritage Sindh Sukkur is a four-year undergraduate program that prepares students for a career in the ceramics industry. The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive education in both traditional ceramics techniques and modern technology to create innovative designs.
The program covers a wide range of topics, including ceramics history, materials and processes, design principles, surface decoration techniques, and firing and glazing. The curriculum also focuses on the latest ceramic technology, including computer-aided design (CAD) software, 3D printing, and laser cutting. This combination of traditional and modern techniques and technologies provides students with a well-rounded education and prepares them for a career in a constantly evolving industry.
During the program, students have access to modern technology and equipment to create functional and decorative pieces that blend traditional and modern design elements. They also learn how to use software programs to create and modify digital designs, which can be printed using 3D printers or other digital fabrication tools. This hands-on approach allows students to develop practical skills and gain experience using the latest technology.
Along with creating their own work, students also learn about the business side of ceramics design, including marketing, pricing, and selling their work. This aspect of the program prepares graduates for a range of careers, including studio artists, ceramic designers, educators, or related fields that incorporate the latest technology in ceramics design. Overall, the B.Sc. Ceramics program at Aror University of Art, Architecture, and Design & Heritage Sindh Sukkur provides students with a cutting-edge education in the art and science of ceramics. Scope of Program

Graduate ceramic design and design professionals can apply their knowledge of ceramic design, a material with the multidisciplinary approach to different fields yet to be explored in Pakistan. The future graduates can pursue their careers in various directions including product design, tableware, furniture design, jewelry design, interior design, exterior design as well as industrial design. This skill set positions the graduate designers in a highly desirable situation to be employed as professionals in the industry to cater the needs and demands of emerging market.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The graduate of Ceramic Design is expected to accomplish the following PEOs.
PEO 01 To Develop technical proficiency in ceramic design through a comprehensive curriculum, providing students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to excel in various areas of ceramic applications, including product design, artistry, and functional design.
PEO 02 To Foster a creative and exploratory mindset among students, enabling them to critically analyze and integrate diverse influences, trends, and technologies in ceramic design, resulting in innovative and cutting-edge expressions of art and utility.
PEO 03 To Cultivate effective communication skills, including written, verbal, and visual modes, to articulate and present ideas, concepts, and design solutions to diverse audiences, fostering collaboration and effective engagement with peers, professionals, and the broader community.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs).

PLOs are the narrower proclamations explaining what the students are expected to learn and be competent to perform during graduation. These relate to the skills, knowledge, and approach students gain during the program.
PLO 01 To Demonstrate technical proficiency in ceramic design techniques, including clay modeling, glazing, firing, and surface decoration, to create aesthetically pleasing and functional ceramic artifacts.
PLO 02 To Apply critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to develop innovative ceramic designs that integrate diverse influences, materials, and technologies, showcasing originality and artistic expression.
PLO 03 To Promote a culture of research and innovation by encouraging students to engage in scholarly activities, experimentation, and exploration of emerging trends and technologies in ceramic design, thereby contributing to the advancement of the field.
