On September 20, 2024, Aror University Sukkur took a significant step towards sustainability by launching the Green Campus Initiative (EcoSmart Campus) in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This initiative aims to transform the university into a greener and more sustainable environment.
The event started with an introductory presentation by the Registrar, Dr Pir Suhail Ahmed Sarhandi who highlighted the university’s achievements and commitment to environmental responsibility. The Orientation Session was led by two WWF speakers, Ms. Fatima Khan and Ms. Hira Muzaffar, who shared valuable insights into WWF’s objectives, programs and the key elements of Environmental Management Program (EMP). Their presentations emphasized the importance of reducing environmental impact and integrating sustainable initiatives on campus.
The WWF team also conducted a Campus Assessment to evaluate current environmental practices, laying the baseline for future improvements.
The event concluded with remarks of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr Zahid Hussain Khand who expressed his gratitude to the WWF team and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to becoming a model of sustainability.
