Biography
Dr. Sabab Ali Shah is a distinguished researcher with over 15 years of academic and research experience in the fields of environmental and water resources engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from Hanyang University, Republic of Korea. His broad research expertise spans Water Engineering, River Engineering, Hydrology, Climate Change, Irrigation Engineering, Hydrological Processes, Climate Change Modeling and Adaptation, Hydro-Environmental Research, Remote Sensing and GIS, and Machine Learning applications.
Dr. Shah has received several prestigious honors, including the Excellent Researcher Award, the Foreign High-Level Talent Fellowship from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Research Fellow INTI INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, Malaysia, and the MS–PhD Overseas Scholarship from the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented his work at various international forums. His strong research background and demonstrated leadership potential make him an excellent candidate for advanced roles in environmental and water resources engineering.
In addition to his research accomplishments, Dr. Shah has held significant academic leadership positions. He served as the Founding Program Chairman for the Department of Environmental Science, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the academic program, developing curricula, and building the departmental infrastructure. He also served as Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at Aror University for over two years, where he was responsible for fostering a research culture, facilitating grant acquisitions, and strengthening industry–academia linkages.
Currently, Dr. Shah serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIEER/CAS), where he conducts cutting-edge research on water and salt transport processes in saline-alkali arid ecosystems. His research focuses on understanding how groundwater levels, soil types, and vegetation influence water-salt dynamics in root zones, employing advanced numerical modeling, field experiments, and AI-driven approaches. This work aims to develop sustainable solutions for land degradation and water scarcity in arid regions. His findings have been published in high-impact SCI journals and presented at international forums.
Dr. Shah's peer-reviewed publications have garnered over 650 citations on Google Scholar, underscoring the impact of his contributions to hydrology, climate change adaptation, and sustainable water management. He has presented his research at major global forums, including the American Geophysical Union (AGU25) meeting in the USA, the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU26) in Austria, the German Society of Geosciences (GSU25) in Germany, and the XVIIth World Water Congress in South Korea.
Dr. Shah is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), the American Geophysical Union (AGU), the European Geosciences Union (EGU), the Korean Water Resources Association (KWRA), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the American Society of Hydrology, and IAENG. Through these affiliations, he remains engaged with the latest advancements in water resources engineering.
In addition to his research activities, Dr. Shah serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed international journals, including the American Journal of Civil Engineering, Journal of Water and Climate Change, Journal of Research in Cold and Arid Regions, American Journal of Hydrology, Aror University Research Journal, and Frontiers in Earth Sciences.
