Biography
Prof. Dr. Zamir Ahmed Abro is a Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Design at Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design, and Heritage in Sukkur, Pakistan. He holds a Ph.D. in Textile and Garment Design from Donghua University in China.
With more than 18 years of experience in academia and industry, his expertise spans textile design, fashion design, smart textiles, wearable technology, digital fashion, sustainable textile innovations, and 3D printing in fashion. His main research interests involve creating smart garments, developing wearable tech, and incorporating cutting-edge digital and 3D printing techniques into textile and fashion products.
At Aror University, Prof. Abro provides academic and strategic guidance to the Faculty of Design. He helps develop innovative programs, modern design studios, research labs, industry collaborations, and international partnerships. He also actively supports emerging areas such as digital fashion, sustainable design, smart textiles, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven innovation.
He also serves as the editor of the Aror University Research Journal (AURJ), where he promotes high-quality research, academic publishing, and the dissemination of scholarly knowledge across various disciplines. He actively works to enhance the university's research and innovation environment through initiatives such as research collaborations, laboratory development, industry engagement, student internships, entrepreneurship, and international academic partnerships.
Prof. Abro has an extensive publication record in internationally recognized journals and collaborates actively with leading universities and research institutes worldwide. His network encompasses Donghua University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Wuhan Textile University, and Dalian Polytechnic University in China, as well as numerous universities and research organizations across Pakistan and other countries.
Professor Abro promotes innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation through his academic leadership, research, editorial activities, and global engagement. He strengthens the links between textile and fashion education, research, industry, and cultural heritage, with a focus on internationalization and research excellence.
