Biography
Shaista Murtaza is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as a Lecturer in English (Linguistics) within the Faculty of Heritage at Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design and Heritage in Sukkur, Pakistan. With a deeply rooted commitment to advancing language education and sociolinguistic research in the region, her career focuses heavily on Second Language Acquisition (SLA), Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and teacher education evaluation. She holds a BS (Honours) in English from Shah Abdul Latif University in Khairpur Mirs and earned her MPhil in English (Linguistics) from Iqra University in Karachi, where her thesis extensively investigated the reading habits of undergraduate students in rural Sindh. Advancing her academic journey further, she is currently pursuing a Ph.D in English (Linguistics) at the University of Sindh in Jamshoro.As an active scholar, her recent peer-reviewed publications highlight her diverse contributions to contemporary linguistic and educational discourse. In her co-authored 2025 paper published in the Journal of Media Horizons, titled "A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Commercial Advertisements of Beauty Brand Products," she explored the intersection of language, media, and identity. Her dedication to improving educational frameworks is evidenced by her collaborative study, "Assessing the Effectiveness of Subject-Specific Induction Training Modules in Enhancing Content Delivery to (IBA) Qualified PSTs," featured in the Policy Journal of Social Science Review. Additionally, her research into learner psychology and language environments includes the 2025 paper "The Impact of Language Preferences on English Language Acquisition: Learner Perceptions," published in the Liberal Journal of Language & Literature Review. At Aror University, she seamlessly integrates her ongoing research insights into the undergraduate curriculum, equipping students with critical reasoning and linguistic skills designed to thrive in modern academic and professional landscapes.
