Zahid Hussain Soomro

Zahid Hussain Soomro is a visual artist, painter, and educator whose practice explores contemporary visual expression through painting and personal, cultural, and social narratives. He holds a BFA in Painting (2006) and an M.A. (Hons.) in Visual Arts (2016) from the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore. Soomro has been actively engaged in professional art practice since 2006 and has exhibited his work extensively in Pakistan, including solo and group exhibitions at NCA Gallery, Karachi Arts Council, Alhamra Art Galleries, Canvas Gallery, Indus Art Gallery, Koel Art Gallery, Full Circle Gallery, and other prominent art spaces. His work was also included in Finding Jinnah: Contemporary Art in Pakistan in 2021. Alongside his studio practice, Soomro is committed to art education and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Practice in Visual Arts at Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design and Heritage, Sukkur. He has contributed to the university through teaching, academic leadership, curriculum development, Boards of Studies, and institutional committees. His artistic and professional engagements include international residency, research, commissioned projects, and participation in international artistic initiatives, including Dubai Expo. Through both his art practice and teaching, Soomro continues to explore new possibilities in contemporary painting while contributing to the development of emerging artists and visual arts education in Pakistan.
